The gymnasium is an important building in ObsCure, located in Leafmore High. It's the building where the game's events start and end. It's also the last level in Final Exam.
As its name suggests, it's the building where the Leafmore students practice sports, either as part of their gym class or as leisure. It's where the events of the series begin for the main characters, as Kenny ends up in Friedman's basement, as he wanted to stay up late practicing basketball inside.
Information[]
The gymnasium is quite a big building, with a basketball court in the middle, and a long set of tall steps on the side for people to sit and watch the sports being played out in the building.
Its walls and ceiling have some big windows that let a lot of light in, which is interesting since this would be quite a problem for Herbert, although it can be assumed he doesn't enter the bulding during the day.
Interestingly, despite its size, it doesn't have much equipment for sports, and it doesn't seem to have any kind of room that could hold said equipment. The only rooms in the building are the two locker rooms.
Places of interest[]
The basketball court[]
This is the main room in the building. It's quite big, and serves as a basketball court for the students to play. There are two baskets, one on each side, and the logo of the school's basketball team, the Mighty Sharks, appears right in the middle of the shiny floor, with the year 1960 written on it.
On one side of the room, there are several big benches where people can sit down to watch the basketball matches that take place in the gym. At the beginning of the game, we see Shannon sitting here, watching Kenny and Stan play against some other, unnamed students, while Josh films the match with his camera.
On the wall at the top of the benches, there are several photos of teams and players from the past.
The room has two doors that lead outside, tho only the one furthest away from the locker rooms can be opened during the game. The other two doors lead to the locker rooms, one for each sex. Only the men's locker room can be visited during the game, however.
There are several posters and other decorative items themed around the school's team placed around the room. Interestingly, there's a big poster advertising a match between the Mighty Sharks and the Tigers on September 16th and 17th (most likely, the match would start on the night of September 16th and end on the morning of the 17th). One might assume this is referring to the match that's mentioned at multiple times during the game, however, this isn't the case, as that match would've taken place on September 27th. It's unknown whether this is a mistake, or if perhaps the match was delayed at some point, or if it's just referring to an older match and the posters weren't removed.
Other details include a set of speakers on the windows, on the wall with the exit doors. It's interesting to note that they aren't connected to anything, however.
There's also a basketball, below the basket furthest away from the locker rooms. It's only there at the start of the game, likely because only Kenny has animations for it. Interestingly enough, there are some pre-release screenshots where we can see other characters, aside from Kenny, in the gymnasium, with the ball still there.
Men's locker room[]
This is the only other room in the gym that can be visited during the game. It's composed of 3 small rooms, the actual room with the lockers, the bathroom, and the showers room.
The lockers room is, as expected, full of lockers. It also has some benches, and a couple details, like more posters of the Sharks, some trash, stickers, papers, old photos of the team...
At the start of the game, you can find Kenny's bag and phone on one of the benches, but of course, this is soon stolen by Herbert.
The bathroom is right next to the lockers room, and doesn't have a door. It has a mirror in the middle and is overall, kind of dirty. Oddly enough, it only has urinals, no regular toilets. There's writing on the walls and another, small set of lockers in the corner.
Right next to the bathroom is the showers room, with four showers. The floor is wet and reflective, and it seems like someone left a bottle of shampoo on one of the showers. Strangely, there are windows in this room.
Events of ObsCure[]
This is where the game starts, as in the game's intro we are introduced to the main characters; Kenny and Stan playing basketball along with other unnamed students, Josh recording the match for the school's newspaper, and Shannon watching from the steps, looking bored.
When the match ends and everyone gets ready to go back home, Kenny decides to stay, with Shannon scolding him because he told his parents he'd be home early.
At nighttime, Kenny finally decides to go back home, getting a call from Ashley in the locker room. Just as he's talking to Ashley, Herbert steals Kenny's bag and runs away to the basement, with Kenny following him shortly after.
Later in the game, after meeting up with Kenny and grabbing the pliers, you can come back to the gym, although there won't be anything to do or find here (interestingly, the basketball is now missing, likely because the other characters don't have animations for it).
The game's final fight with Leonard takes place right beneath the gym, and after you shoot his roots off, the ceiling collapses, continuing the fight on top of a now destroyed gymnasium.
Fate after ObsCure[]
By the time the events of ObsCure II, the gymnasium seems to have been completely destroyed, with Leonard having moved by unknown means to the opposite end of the school.
