The Mordeur is a creature from ObsCure created by the genetic modification of the Mortifilia.
Appearance[]
Frog Biter[]
Most likely after a lot of failed experiments and in an act of desperation, Herbert decided to test the effects of the Mortifilia in animals, more specifically, in frogs, as they would likely be very easily obtained, considering there was a river next to the school.
The infection of the Mortifilia radically changed the frog:
It grew a lot in size, its whole body basically became a giant ball with a small pair of eyes and a mouth full of teeth. Two horns grew out of what could be considered its pelvis and its legs obtained a black-ish brown color, different from the light red-ish color of its torso/head.
It's unknown if this variant of the Mordeur is related to the tadpoles found in the river, it's possible that after they escaped the basement, they were able to reproduce by themselves, creating said tadpoles.
Human Biter[]
Herbert decide to test the serum, made with the sample of blood of the Frog Biter, in a human being.
After infecting a student with it, he noticed as the time passed how he essentially lost most of its human features, becoming just a torso with arms. It presents a type 3 mutation, in which the central nervous system is replaced by a hybrid nervous system.
During the mutation, the head is ignored in favor of other organs and is subsequently lost after a certain period due to the lack of blood supply. Because of its inability to use the mouth in its head, this kind of Biter has developed a secondary kind of mouth in its rib cage, using the ribs as teeth.
Combat[]
Biters are usually found in groups, typically consisting of three or four, and sometimes its kind or supported by stronger enemies using, however, any type of collective strategy.
The Biter has 3 known attacks:
Their primary attack is to make a headbutt to his enemy, is not as damaging as one could think, but it's quite helpful leaving time for the other biters to attack him.
Their more offensive attack is biting his victims in the legs as a dog would do. Even though it isn't so powerful, this is their strongest attack.
And their last attack is "spiting" a sort of slightly corrosive liquid in the direction of the enemy.
Tactics[]
They are generally weak but very aggressive, the Biter is surrounded by a weak layer of dark spores that protects it from attacks, but with the application of light it's only need a few seconds to dissipate any defense, this will make it run away frightened.
A few hits of any melee weapon will slash this weak enemy or you can opt for the firearms and kill him with two or three bullets with the most weak gun. The light of a simple flashlight running low is enough to scare away this monster while the sunlight kills him in a few moments.
Trivia[]
- There's a strange dead monster with what looks like a tentacle coming out of it inside a cage, in the room where you fight the first ArbolTrebol (not counting the one in the game's intro). While it's hard to make out what this monster might be, upon further inspection of its model and by applying the Biter's texture to it, one can see that it seems to be a low-poly version of the Biter, with missing parts.
- There's a stuffed Biter in the AOL museum in ObsCure 2. Its texture is slightly different, being more pale and gray, like the Evolved Infected.
- There seems to be a tattoo texture within the textures of the Biter, tho it's not sure if it's used in the actual model, if it is, it's hard to see.
- The texture of the human biter in ObsCure 1 is labeled "new_mord", suggesting this version was created after the frog model. This would make sense, because as a general rule, monsters in ObsCure's concept arts and the prototype video seemed to resemble animals, bugs and plants more than humans, perhaps suggesting a different plot, so it would make sense that the Biter was at first a mutated frog, then changed into a human torso, but perhaps the frog model was kept because the developers liked it.
