Mr. Garrison was the janitor and security guard of Leafmore High. He finds himself locked up in the school when the Mortifilia monsters are on the loose in the building during the events of ObsCure. Unfortunately, he is not able to survive an attack by the monsters and he's found dead by 4 students.

Story

Background

Mr. Garrison is a janitor in Leafmore (it's unknown whether there are more people working as janitors in the school, he is the only one seen in the game). He is a middle-aged man with brown flashy mustache. He seems to have worked in the school for many years with dedication and cold practicality; Silent and obedient to the duties entrusted by the principal, he has a very controlled behavior in front of the monsters, which implies that he was aware of the experiments of Herbert Friedman and Miss Wickson. In favor of this theory, in his office he has an already loaded shotgun, bullets, and he carries a handgun with him, as if he was ready for a possible invasion of the creatures. Moreover, still in his room, there are monitors of the school's surveillance system, then (given the cassette recordings) it is difficult to think that he wasn't aware of the kidnapping of schoolchildren.

ObsCure

The janitor appears in the game's introduction sequence, the day after the kidnapping of Kenny when, under Herbert's orders, closed the gates of the school and then sent the late-comers to his office. Later, at six o'clock, he closed the doors of the school's cafeteria and retired to his room (in the American version of the game, it's implied that he left the school and came back later after Mr. Friedman called him to let the students go home, as the van found in the parking lot only appears after talking to Herbert in the library), involuntarily locking Josh, Shannon, and Ashley and trapping the students in the now overrun with monsters school. Then the students, on the advice of Friedman, go to look for him in his room to open the doors, so they can get out. The group comes too late, since he, attacked by monsters, was torn in two. Garrison was ripped to shreds by an unknown monstrosity. He is found dead on the floor of his office when the player discovers him, with his entrails scattered about. He had a Shotgun in his Locker, which would be of much use to the Leafmore group against the stronger Mortifilia creatures.

Trivia

• If you approach his office, before entering the first time, and wait without getting too close, you will be able to hear the last words of Mr. Garrison as he battles against monsters. Once you get close enough you will hear his cries when he is killed.
• It's possible that a Biter killed him, as hinted by the opened air vent below near the corpse where the monster might get in from. In the American version, it's implied that he was killed by Grimpeurs, as it added a small cutscene showing a glimpse of them crawling through a vent.
• His name is a reference to the animated show, South Park. Following the protagonist's names, Stan and Kenny, he is named after their school teacher, Mr. Garrison.
• While it's very likely, as explained above, that he was aware of the kidnappings and experiments, it's unlikely he was also infected with the Mortifilia, as he is never mentioned in any documents whatsoever.
• In the game's prototype video, his corpse can be seen in the library, although it's possible that this was meant to be a different character, but it does seem to be the same model.
• He never makes an actual in-game appearance (outside of pre-rendered cutscenes) before his death.
